At Salli, we are unwavering in our commitment to combating climate change and minimizing our environmental footprint. Through our comprehensive sustainability program, we ensure our operations are not only carbon-neutral but actively contribute to a healthier planet.
Our carbon negative commitment
-
Sustainable forestry
- Our company group owns a 1,050-hectare intensively managed forest farm with top level growth.
- Annual harvesting is 5,000 cubic meters less than the forest growth (10.000 m3), fostering carbon sequestration, climate care and biodiversity.
-
Energy efficiency
- Energy-saving LED lamps are used throughout our facilities.
- Buildings are highly insulated, requiring minimal heating energy and nearly no cooling.
- Moderate indoor temperatures further enhance energy conservation.
- Thick insulation of buildings eliminates the needs of summertime cooling of the factory to none, and offices to only few days each summer.
-
Renewable and low-impact energy
- Heating is powered by biofuel (wood pellets, agricultural wastes) and electricity from air source heat pumps.
- Solar energy heats washing water during summer months.
- Our stationary diesel tank is filled with partly sustainable biodiesel.
-
Sustainable transportation
- Public transportation is prioritized for long-distance travel.
- Company vehicles are low-consumption models.
- Frequent online meetings reduce the need for business travel.
-
Sustainable practices in the workplace
- Green office spaces: Big buckets of soil and plants in our offices provide natural microbes for healthier indoor air while the plants produce extra oxygen by consuming CO2.
- Sustainable restaurant practices:
- Red meat (elk) sourced from road accidents as only red meat sounce.
- Chicken served only once a month.
- Sustainably sourced fish from nearby lakes and sparing use of organic dairy products.
- One vegan meal day per week.
- Modern sewage cleaning systems are installed in all buildings.
-
Minimizing plastic usage
- Chair and table shipments use only recyclable cardboard boxes made from renewable timber fibers—free from plastic fillers or tape.
