We conducted a comparison by our team (40 employees) between the effectiveness of flu vaccines and vitamin D supplementation.
For two years, we used flu vaccines. In the following years, we provided employees with 100 micrograms of vitamin D daily. The results with vitamin D were significantly better, leading to fewer absences.
We now also keep vitamin C and zinc acetate lozenges available in the break room. These are surprisingly effective at preventing colds when taken at the first signs of illness.
As a result, absences during the flu season no longer differ from other times of the year. Thanks to our robust supplement program, biweekly swimming sessions, and healthy lunches, our total absenteeism is under 1% of working hours.
Even during the COVID-19 years, our absence rates did not increase.
Supplements not only help prevent colds but also slow brain aging (cognitive decline) and enhance staff energy levels—both economically valuable benefits.
In addition to warding off the flu, vitamin D at levels equivalent to those from a sunny vacation has been shown to prevent dozens of other conditions, including cancer.
